Designed and facilitated an interactive online training course to support laboratories in transitioning to ISO 15189:2022 using a risk-based implementation approach.

[22 Nov 2023] Last week DATOS provided its online interactive course ‘Transitioning to ISO 15189:2022’ to 15 laboratory professionals from 5 laboratories in Bangladesh, Laos PDR, and Cambodia, all members of the international research network GABRIEL, animated by Fondation Mérieux.
We discussed the structure and contents of the new version of ISO 15189, and the key differences with the previous version, ISO 15189:2012. We also focused on conducting risk assessments and identifying, implementing, and evaluating effectiveness of risk control measures to adequately manage risks as integral part of laboratory quality management.
We thank all the participants for their engagement and active participation and wish them all the best with implementation of the new ISO 15189:2022 standard! And we thank the Mérieux Foundation for supporting this activity through its Quality Initiative program.

Advanced Course for Diagnostics (ACDx)

[24 Sep 2018] Last week the 9th edition of the ACDx course was organized by Fondation Mérieux in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, in Annecy, France. ACDx advocates for the value of diagnostics in global health and builds capacity for critical decision-making on diagnostics in the developing world through partnerships and networks.
This week-long intensive course enhances the knowledge and professional network of participants. This year the focus was on AMR and access to quality-assured diagnostics, in addition to an overview of the latest advances in the field.
DATOS' Tjeerd Datema facilitated a session on the role of quality management in diagnostic systems, discussing the role of quality management in laboratories and in point of care testing, and at health systems level.
