[19 Dec 2016] The past two weeks DATOS provided technical assistance to the Centre Infectiology Lao-Christophe Mérieux (CILM). This laboratory, located in Vientiane, Laos, is part of Laos’ public health system. It is supported by Fondation Mérieux with implementation of a quality management system according to ISO 15189. As part of this process Fondation Mérieux requested DATOS to conduct an assessment and organize a workshop for CILM staff. The assessment was conducted mainly to measure the progress made since the start of this project in 2014, and to determine the best way forward with implementation of the quality management system.

The laboratory assessment was conducted using the World Health Organization’s Laboratory Quality Stepwise Implementation (LQSI) tool as basis. The outcome of this assessment served also as input for the two-day workshop. This workshop focused specifically on nonconformity management and customer focus. In addition, DATOS assisted CILM management with development of a plan to implement all the recommendations emanating from the assessment. As such, CILM now has a clear view on which activities need to be conducted in 2017 to further proceed on the road to accreditation. Source: //blog.datos-advice.nl/#post19
