Report(s):
[23 Jun 2022] This week Linda Oskam and Tjeerd Datema are in Kenya as part of the #QWArS programme (Qualifying the Workforce for AMR Surveillance in Africa and Asia). QWArS, rolled-out by the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) and partners, seeks to implement standardized #AMR #training packages in the fields of #epidemiology and #microbiology and under the #onehealth concept embracing context-specific needs, leading to formal qualifications. Over the past two years trainees at national level completed the programme.
QWArS is now moving into the next phase in which the training packages are transitioned to countries for further dissemination by national master trainers at the sub-national level. As part of this, DATOS was requested to train QWArS trainers to enable them to educate master trainers who will be responsible for rolling out the QWArS program at sub-national level.
DATOS trained the participants on how to provide training of trainers, enabling them to train the national master trainers on adult learning principles and skills, designing and developing training programmes, class management and recognizing different learning styles. They put into practice what they learned during teach-back and microteaching sessions.
