[9 Nov 2022] On 20-21 October Tjeerd Datema and Linda Oskam participated in a regional, first-of-its-kind event in Senegal to support the development and uptake of national Essential Diagnostics Lists (EDL) as a critical step towards universal health coverage. Fifteen West African nations were represented. The meeting was jointly organized by FIND, the global alliance for diagnostics, and the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), in collaboration with Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

Tjeerd Datema gave a presentation introducing an e-tool for stepwise development and implementation of an NEDL, developed by DATOS for FIND, the global alliance for diagnostics, together with Lucy A. Perrone. This digital tool guides countries in a stepwise manner with developing a National Essential Diagnostics List.
